The 67th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Radiation Research Society (JRRS) will be held in Kitakyushu City, Japan, from September 25 (Thursday) to 28 (Saturday), 2024. This is the third time that the meeting will be held in Kitakyushu (the 32nd meeting (President: Takehiko Tsuchiya) and the 51st meeting (President: Toshiyuki Houmura)). It will be held jointly with the 12th Japanese Association for Radiation Accident/Disaster Medicine (JARADM)on September 27-28,

When I applied for the presidency of the JRRS annual meeting, I set forth four themes. When I applied for the presidency of the congress, I had four themes: "Medical Exposure," "Low Dose Radiation Effects," "Radiation Education," and "Countermeasures for Nuclear and Radiation Accidents. There are many other issues related to radiation, but I have chosen these as the issues that I am personally involved with at this time. I wanted to share and discuss these issues with our members and make this conference the foundation for these issues. The theme of the conference is "Let's talk about radiation! Radiation - The Cornerstone of Future Radiation Issues". The themes of "Radiation Education" and "Response to Nuclear and Radiation Accidents" are to be presented in a joint meeting. In addition, "Recent Radiation Accidents," "U.S. Nuclear Regulations and Promotion," and "Fukushima Nuclear Accident Response Then and Now" will be presented by special lecturers. In addition, a "Symposium on Nuclear and Radiation Accident Disasters" will be organized by four societies (JRRS, JARADM, the Japan Society for Occupational Health (JSOH), and the Japan Society of Health Physics (JHPS)). We have received support for this joint meeting from the JSOH and JHPS. We will invite members of these societies to participate in the symposium and aim for academic exchange. We plan to invite researchers from Korea, Indonesia, the United States, France, and Ukraine to make this an international meeting. Since the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus infection has completely broken out, we will hold the meeting face-to-face. We hope to have a great discussion with you.

Kitakyushu City has the best night view in Japan. The night views from Mt. Sarakura, Mt. Takato, and the Moji area are each worth seeing. There are many tourist spots such as Kokura Castle and Garden, Moji Retro, and Hiraodai Limestone Plateau and the city is also associated with famous people such as Ogai Mori, Seicho Matsumoto, Reiji Matsumoto, and Ken Takakura. Kitakyushu is also famous for its seafood and fugu (puffer fish), and there are many delicious local gourmet meals such as nuka-daki, yaki udon, yaki curry, and iron pot chinese dumplings.

This year's event is being managed with the cooperation of not only the staff of our lab, but also people from other institutions. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them. We hope you will forgive us for any inconvenience we may have caused.
