SHIN-KOKURA Thermal Power Station

SHIN-KOKURA Thermal Power Station

Kitakyushu City, the gateway to Kyushu, has been a crucial hub for maritime and land transportation since ancient times. Designated as the seventh government-ordained city in Japan in 1963, it has developed along the Kanmon Straits and the Genkai Sea. While forming one of the leading industrial zones in Japan in the city center, it is surrounded by abundant nature such as the sea and mountains. Traditional events, especially the Kokura Gion Daiko, are deeply rooted in the lives of the people. In the heart of this city with a population of one million, in the Kokura and Hiagari districts, is the Shin-Kokura Thermal Power Station. This power station is the first LNG exclusive combustion thermal power station for Kyushu Electric Power, and it is working tirelessly day and night to deliver stable electricity to homes and factories. Moreover, the power station, which occupies an area of 400,000 square meters (about 5.8 times the size of the Fukuoka Dome), has greened more than 25% of its premises, contributing to the creation of a lush environment.

JR Kokura General Rolling Stock Center

A rolling stock maintenance plant that supports the development of Kyushu's railroads.Founded in 1891 as a rolling stock maintenance plant for Kyushu Railway, which opened to Moji in 1894, the plant has a history of more than 100 years. The plant inspects, repairs, and remodels rolling stock, develops technologies, and repairs and conducts management inspections of measuring and surveying instruments, and is solely responsible for rolling stock and D&S trains running within Kyushu, such as the “Nanatsuboshi in Kyushu,” “Limited Express Yufuin no Mori” and “Limited Express Sonic” trains.
*Note* Taking photos and videos in the facility is prohibited.

TOTO museum

TOTO museum

TOTO Ltd. was founded in 1917.
For 100 years since then, TOTO has taken part in Japan’s modernization by achieving ideals of its founder to bring a healthy, cultural lifestyle to the Japanese people.
To continue to develop in step with society, TOTO believes it is important to retain these founding principles and correctly interpret company history, both of which are critical to pass our corporate values to future generations. This museum was built with this goal in mind.
Together with culture and history of plumbing equipment, we hope the museum provides visitors an opportunity to learn about the philosophy behind TOTO Manufacturing and how products have developed.
