  • Masayuki Watanabe received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and D.Eng. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Osaka University, Japan, in 2001, 2002, and 2004, respectively. Since 2004, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, where he is currently working as a Professor.
    His research interest is in the area of monitoring, analysis and control of power systems.

  • Dr. Hideki Motoyama was born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1961. He received the B. Eng., M. Eng., and Dr. Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan, in 1985, 1987 and 1998, respectively. He has been with CRIEPI, Japan since 1987 and working on lightning surge analysis, modelling and measurement of surge phenomena, experimental and theoretical studies on breakdown characteristics of long air gaps, modelling and measurement of grounding phenomena, and studies related to insulation coordination, lightning protection, and EMC in electric power systems. He is a Fellow of IEE of Japan (IEEJ) and IEEE, a Distinguished Member of CIGRE, and a Member of IEIE of Japan. He is the Convenor of IEC TC99/MT9 and an expert of IEC TC99/MT14 and TC42/JWG22. From 2012 to 2018, he served as the Secretary of the CIGRE SC C4. He is now the President of Power and Energy Society (PES), IEEJ.

Prof. Rae-Young Kim

  • Advanced e-Grid Technologies towards 100% Renewable Electrical Energy System for future Society
  • Rae-Young Kim received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea, in 1997 and 1999, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 2009, all in electrical engineering.
    From 1999 to 2004, he was a Senior Researcher at the Hyosung Heavy Industry R&D Center, Seoul, Korea. In 2009, he was an Engineering Researcher at National Semiconductor Corporation, Santa Clara, CA, USA, involved in a smart home energy management system. In 2016, he was a Visiting Scholar with the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES), Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg. Since 2010, he has been with Hanyang University, where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. His research interests include the design of high-power density converters, the optimization of WBG power devices, and the distributed controls in the applications of renewable energy or micro and smart grid. Dr. Kim was a recipient of the 2007 First Prize Paper Award from the IEEE IAS and the Best Paper Award from IEEE ACEPT 2018.

Dr. Feng Xue

  • Development and prospect on the adaptive fault defense technology in China's new power system
  • Dr. Feng Xue was born in Shanghai, China in 1971. He received his bachelor degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1992, master degree from Power Automation Research Institute in 1998 and PhD degree in University of Bath, UK in 2008. As the main researcher, he has developed power system stability quantitative analysis software and power system wide-area monitoring analysis and control system, which are widely used in the State Grid and Southern Power Grid of China. He is senior member of IEEE, member of CIGRE and secretary of IEC SC 8C. His current research interests include power system stability analysis and control, grid-connected control of renewable energy. He is now working as the chief expert of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) and NARI Group Corporation of SGCC.

  • The keynote speech begins with cultivating science spirit and understanding engineering philosophy, the contribution of science discovery, technology revolution and industry revolution to human civilization. Then discuss the key issues and challenges of energy revolution and automotive revolution. The automotive revolution is progressing from electrification to intelligent and internet connected. Electric vehicles will interlink mobility, energy and information. The friendly interaction between the vehicles and power grids, as well as the integration of people, vehicles, road and cloud are essential. The key technologies of electric vehicle power train, batteries and internet of vehicles will be discussed. The integration of energy, information, transportation and humanity will be highlighted. Our ultimate goal is the harmonious coexistence between human and nature.

He published 17 books, over 450 technical papers and holds 10 patents.
